Established in 2001, Health & Development Africa (Pty) Ltd is a South African registered company working to provide client-focused technical assistance and project management in the field of health and development.
We work across the Southern African Region, co-operating with governments, civil society organisations, the private sector and international development partners to support the planning and implementation of effective responses to HIV/AIDS and other health and development challenges. |

Our Organisation
Our organisation is heavily weighted in favour of professionals and technical experts who are efficiently supported by a small finance and administration team. Our four directors, jointly responsible for managing the company, are all experienced public health consultants.
We have a well-qualified team, with rich experience and great diversity in terms of academic training, work exposure and personal background.
Collectively, the HDA team brings the following expertise to its clients:
Knowledge of the fields of medicine, public health, epidemiology, health economics, management practice, sociology, research methodology, health promotion, community development and education.

Skills in research and evaluation, ranging from clinical trials to survey methodology and qualitative approaches.

Skills, systems and approaches to source and manage high quality short-term technical assistance for HIV/AIDS work across Africa.

Knowledge and experience in developing and supporting programme monitoring, including monitoring requirements of international donor agencies.

Skills in facilitating client-centred, technically-informed policy development and planning at all levels.

Experience in developing the capacity of communities and local organisations to respond to the challenges of HIV/AIDS.

BEE Rating
As a South African registered company, HDA supports Black Economic Empowerment (BEE). HDA is classified by the South African Government Department of Trade and Industry's Codes of Good Practice on BEE as a Qualifying Small Enterprise (QSE). A QSE is defined by the Codes as a company with an annual total turnover of between R5 million and R35 million.
An independent BEE assessment done in November 2007, rated HDA as a Level 1 contributor to BEE, which is the highest (most desirable) level. |
